Behind the Name
The name of the resort's signature restaurant pays tribute to May 17, 1875, the date of the first Kentucky Derby. Guests often came to French Lick by private railroad cars and then traveled 60 miles south for the big race. Afterwards they would often come back to the hotel and stay for a few weeks before heading north to the Indianapolis 500.

The large electrical switchboard that once supplied the electricity for the French Lick Springs Hotel is the focal point of the décor in this hotel eatery. Behind the Name
Located inside the French Lick Springs Hotel lobby was the ornate Pluto bar offering hot or cold Pluto water piped directly from the spring. Guests to the resort were all encouraged to drink the water praised for its seemingly limitless health benefits.
