French Lick Resort Invites Guests to Unplug, Recharge & Reconnect This Summer

 

Over 100 Extraordinary Experiences are Offered Weekly

 

FRENCH LICK, IN (June 23, 2010)– Guests will find plenty of activities to fill their itineraries this summer at French Lick Resort. The Midwest’s premier resort destination, located within a day’s drive of major Midwestern cities, is offering literally over 100 experiences every week through August 13. In addition to old favorites, the resort is rolling out a long list of special events and entertainment that children and adults will all enjoy.

 

Children

KidsFest, the resort’s program for children 6-12, is offering over 15 adventures that will make the memory of their visit to French Lick Resort last a lifetime. KidCooks, BAP (Bowling Arcade & Pizza), Hey Dude Ranch and KidsFest Carnival have all returned with several other new activities to choose from. Kids can travel all over the world through International Night, hunt for treasure and discover a “bit of history” about the resort when they participate in Hunt for Kids’ Treasures, make memories of their trip through PhotoVenture, participate in wacky games and relays at Camp KidsFest and spend an afternoon of painting and creating outrageous crafts during KidsCreate.  Find a complete listing of activities can be found on the resort’s website.

 

Family Fun

French Lick Resort is proud to introduce its newest members of the family, Resort Rascals. The puppets, specially designed for the resort, will be making an appearance during a Character Breakfast at the Grand Colonnade Family Restaurant every Wednesday through Sunday from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. Children will have the opportunity to meet and interact with Patrick the Pelican, Charlie the Chimpanzee, Teri the Turtle, Doug the Dog, Oscar the Orangutan and Tammy the Toucan. Guests may also bump into the gang around the resort between 12:30 – 6 p.m. 

 

Families can beat the summer heat by attending one of the pool parties at the French Lick Springs Hotel. This fun favorite includes “Dive-in Movies” Sundays - Wednesdays at 9 p.m. and Family Fun Night on Thursdays from 6:30 – 8 p.m. A deejay will be taking requests and playing a variety of hits every Friday from 5 – 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 – 6 p.m. Saturday nights will include a live poolside band from 6 – 10 p.m.

 

Also new to the resort is the bicycle surrey cart which keeps the whole gang in tow while traveling around property and/or through the beautiful towns of French Lick and West Baden. If everyone in the family prefers to pedal on their own, the resort has a vast selection of bicycles to choose from. Rentals are available at KidsFest, located in front of the French Lick Springs Hotel.

 

Adults

For those interested in still getting their workout while on vacation, the resort is excited to announce Water Fitness and Power Walks at the West Baden Springs Hotel. Each class is 45 minutes in length and is offered on Saturdays and Sundays. Beginning at 8:30 a.m., the Power Walk includes a two to three mile hike at a brisk pace. The Water Fitness class is offered at 10 a.m. and combines aerobics and resistance training.

 

Back by popular demand, an afternoon tea at the West Baden Springs Hotel will be offered through October 1. Guests can enjoy finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones and an assortment of accompaniments. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (812) 936-5924.

Guests will also be treated to live music in a variety of locations throughout the resort. Whether it’s live entertainment in the casino, jazz in the Power Plant or a Dixieland Band on the porch, there will be plenty of musical entertainment to enjoy.

 

Signature Events and Activities

The Vintage Base Ball World Series will return to the West Baden Springs Hotel for the fourth year in a row on Saturday and Sunday, July 9 and 10. Guests can enjoy a Dixieland Band, concessions and more as several teams compete for the championship in an historic setting that’s as old as the game itself.

 

The resort will be celebrating the nation’s freedom in grand fashion during the Fourth of July weekend, July 2 – 4. The event, which is free to resort guests, includes an old fashioned Carnival atmosphere with a parade, contests, prizes, music and more. A fireworks display will be held on Sunday, July 3.

 

In addition to these signature events and a new line-up of activities, guests can also take advantage of the resort’s every day amenities including indoor/outdoor pools, tennis, volleyball, basketball, bowling, arcade games, croquet, billiards, horseback riding, carriage rides, hiking, biking and much more.

 

The resort has even created an excursions program that gives suggested activities at nearby attractions like Spring Mill State Park, Marengo Cave and Gasthof Amish Village. A special Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari package that includes tickets to the park and transportation to and from the resort is also available.
