French Lick Resort Announces Upcoming Concert Season
FRENCH LICK, IN (July 15, 2011) – French Lick Resort is excited to announce seven headlining acts who will take the stage in it’s Windsor Ballroom beginning this September. The resort’s 2011-2012 concert season will include award-winning entertainers Neil Sedaka, Billy Ray Cyrus, Travis Tritt, Glen Campbell with his Goodbye Tour, Wynonna, Kenny Loggins and the returning Charlie Daniels Band. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased through Ticketmaster or by visiting Spring House Gifts in the French Lick Springs Hotel. An exclusive discount will be given to those who attend all seven concerts that includes a complimentary overnight stay. Ticket prices range from $35-$95 for each concert. Neil Sedaka began playing classical piano at the age of eight. He attended classes at Julliard School of Music’s Preparatory Division for Children. Throughout the 50s, 60s and 70s, Sedaka owned the charts, whether through recording or writing. As a songwriter, Neil Sedaka has provided hits for everyone from The Captain & Tennille to Cher, the Monkees and even Elvis Presley—just to name a few. By the age of 24 he had already sold 25 million records worldwide—and that was just the beginning of his career.

Intuition and an inner voice told Billy Ray Cyrus to buy a guitar when he was a 20 year old Georgetown College student on a baseball scholarship. After losing a two year gig at a bar in Ironton, Ohio, and all of his equipment in a fire, Cyrus ventured, like so many country boys before him, to Nashville looking for a recording contract. Mid 1992 Cyrus’s first album was released with a catchy tune and light hearted lyrics, Achey Breaky Heart, an almost instant crossover success.

He has worked with Randy Jackson from American Idol and also Ken Kragen-legendary music manager who has represented the likes of Kenny Rogers, Lionel Richie and Trisha Yearwood.

Though Campbell began as a session musician in Los Angeles playing songs for the Monkees, Elvis, Sinatra and Merle Haggard, by the end of the 60s he was a popular solo-artist in his own right. He continued making hits until the 80s when he began to concentrate on live performances in his Branson, Missouri theatre.

The Charlie Daniels Band performs from 50 years of award winning honkytonk, western swing, folk, rock, country, bluegrass with a touch of gospel, including favorites we all know the words to. The band fuses hardcore country with southern rock, boogie and blues. Instrumental dexterity is at the fore of this rotating cast of musicians. Over the years the band has transitioned from a country rock band to more of a straight country band and enjoyed crossover success with both models. The one common element is Charlie and his blistering fiddle.
