French Lick Springs Hotel and West Baden Springs Hotel are two amazing examples of historic preservation in the Hoosier State. Thanks to Indiana Landmarks historical tours, guests can learn about the rich and famous who came to stay here during the 19th and 20th centuries.
On an Indiana Landmarks tour, you can discover how the massive dome at West Baden was constructed, and how much gold leaf paint was used to detail the lobby at French Lick. Find out why Sprudel and Pluto were the two elixirs that guests enjoyed when they came to “take the waters” at the hotels. Indiana Landmarks tours are a wealth of information about the resort’s history that dates back to 1845, and each tour of 60-75 minutes is uniquely given from the guide’s perspective. Tickets can be purchased at the Landmarks Emporium shops located in each hotel.
Tours for West Baden Springs Hotel are offered daily at 10am, 2pm and 4pm. The tour for French Lick Springs Hotel is held each day at noon. Please note that Indiana Landmarks will operate on winter hours in January and February and will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, with no tours given those days. Group requests made two weeks in advance and meeting required minimums will be accommodated for tours on Mondays and Tuesdays. Regular hours will resume March 5.
Indiana Landmarks also offers Twilight Tours one Saturday evening per month from May through September. Costumed characters portray famous hotel owners and guests as they tell their stories that occurred during the first three decades of the 20th century.
Tour proceeds benefit Indiana Landmarks, an organization dedicated to preserving architecturally unique, historically significant and cherished locations throughout the state. Landmarks Emporium is a museum store dedicated to books, gifts and accessories inspired by the era when the hotels rose to prominence. In both locations, find an eclectic mix of vintage merchandise perfect for today.
