The collegiate summer league team will be tuning up for the summer as preseason training returns to East Park, the same site where major league teams visited for spring training at West Baden in the early 1900s. Jefferson Starship is one of the most successful arena rock bands of the 1970s and ’80s, earning three platinum albums and eight gold records. Founded in 1974, Jefferson Starship was conceived as a collective of musical adventurers whose catalog of rock classics includes “Jane,” “Miracles,” “Find Your Way Back,” “Sara” and “Count on Me.”
The band remains a road-conquering force today with founding member David Freiberg, drummer Donny Baldwin, keyboardist Chris Smith, guitarist Jude Gold and singer/guitarist Cathy Richardson, who often describe themselves as both a “family” and a “gang” with a sense of camaraderie that shines through in their performances.
