“The Sopranos” star, George Loros, and Louisville Ballet Member, Heather Douglas, among special guests
FRENCH LICK, IN (July 27, 2009) — French Lick Resort invites budding actors and actresses to attend a "Broadway Weekend" on August 1. Sponsored by Bob Trinkle Productions, theatre workshops will be offered to adults and children from 9 am – 4 pm.
Adult participants will receive industry advice and tactics from “The Sopranos” star, George Loros. Although he’s best known for his role of Raymond Curto on the popular HBO series, Loros brings over 40 years of experience in the theatre industry. He has appeared in more than 100 television shows and has performed and directed on Broadway.
“He’s done it all,” said Trinkle. “He’s done very well in the business.”
During the day-long workshop, Loros will cover various topics including preparing for the professional stage and screen, as well as the audition process.
Children, 6-17 years old, may attend the Young People’s Theatre workshop which will be conducted by Louisville Ballet member, Heather Douglas. Getting her start as a member of the Ballet, Douglas recently returned after choreographing “Sleeping Beauty” at the Northcott Theatre. She has also performed on Broadway and in London’s West End.
Topics of discussion include improvisation and movement, the audition process, character development, directors’ expectations and stage direction.
“This is a great opportunity to have these two people in our area for a workshop,” said Trinkle. “They have both made a pretty good living at acting. I’m sure they will say it’s not easy, but will tell participants what they need to know to succeed in the business.”
The cost of the adult workshop is $125 per person and $75 for the Young People’s Theatre. Scholarship opportunities are available for the seminars. For more information, please contact Trinkle at bob@bobtrinkleproductions.com.
