KCBS sanctioned event to offer cash prizes of $7,500

FRENCH LICK, IN — Fire up those grills; "Blues, Cruise and Barbeque" (formerly held in New Albany, IN) is moving to French Lick Resort, August 13 -14.

The state championship-qualifying event will be sanctioned by the prestigious Kansas City BBQ Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and enjoying barbeque. KCBS, which is the world’s largest organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts with more than 8,000 members worldwide, sanctions nearly 300 barbeque contests across the United States. The contest will be open to KCBS pro teams who will put forth their tastiest entries for Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork Shoulder or Butt, and Beef Brisket. KCBS judges will evaluate the barbeque in three different criteria: taste, appearance and texture. The entry fee is $225 per team and allows entry into all four categories.

Backyard BBQ Enthusiasts are also encouraged to bring their grilling skills and compete for prizes. The fee is $25 per category. The categories are the same as for the Pro teams and Include Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork Shoulder or Butt, and Beef Brisket.

“We are excited to host a KCBA sanctioned competition this year,” said Doug May, director of entertainment. “We learned a lot with our first competition last year and quickly concluded that KCBS is the way to go.”
