Nestled behind West Baden Springs Hotel, The Stables at French Lick Resort are open daily and home to 27 horses who have each been carefully selected and trained by our stables staff for a minimum of two years. Among them are trail horses for the 6+ miles of scenic horseback riding trails, the resort’s two carriage horses, and ponies that provide rides for the little ones.
The driveway to The Stables is located in the back of the self-parking lot at West Baden Springs Hotel. Follow the signs at the end of the brick drive or take a complimentary French Lick Resort shuttle.

Rise, shine, and go behind the scenes as the stars of our stables begin their day. Watch the morning routine of the horses as they come in from the pasture to be fed, brushed and saddled up for their “work day.” You’ll also have the chance to meet some of our 27 horses and have questions answered by our stables staff. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time.

Saddle up for an equine education. Meet at The Stables to join a guide for a 30-minute class about horses, including a meet-and-greet with a horse and background about grooming and daily care for the animals.

Rides last 20-25 minutes. You can reserve your carriage ride by calling (844) 602-5248 from 9am to 4pm. Reservations are available on the half hour. Tickets can be purchased directly from the carriage driver if a ride has not been reserved.

Carriage Rides WaiverExperience the beauty and serenity of southern Indiana while horseback riding through 6+ miles of picturesque trails bordering the Hoosier National Forest. While on horseback, keep an eye out for red-tail hawks, deer, turkeys and other Indiana wildlife.
The Stables at French Lick Resort offer guided trail rides of 45 or 90 minutes for riders 8 years and older. Riders of all skill levels are welcome, and our staff can accommodate guests with special needs. Each guest is matched to a horse that is the best fit for them.

Nothing beats the sights and sounds of children enjoying their first pony ride. Kids can meet their pony then hop on for a ride led by our stables guide. Approximate length of ride is 10 minutes. All young cowboys and cowgirls receive colorful souvenir bandanas as part of their stables experience. Pony rides are unavailable from noon - 1pm.
