Morris Day is the frontman for one of the all-time greatest party bands, whose infectious music and riveting performances continue inspiring audiences to get up and move.
A native of Minneapolis, Day was a high school friend of Prince Rogers Nelson and went on to sing in Prince’s first band Grand Central. Prince grew as an artist and so did the opportunity around him. The Time was originally created as Prince’s alter-ego to be seen as the cool, street-wise funk band contrasting Prince’s more soulful R&B sound. Soon after, Morris Day and The Time were cast in the rock movie sensation Purple Rain, which captured the exploding Minneapolis music scene at its peak.
With a new album release Last Call in 2022, Day keeps delivering energetic vocals, witty lyrics and smooth-as-silk dance moves, all wrapped up in his trademark flashy, dapper fashions. Hits by Morris Day and the Time have spanned five different decades, with iconic favorites including “Jungle Love,” “Get It Up” and “The Bird.”
