The perfect complement to each other
These French Lick barrel selections have a taste profile all their own. We like to have options across the taste spectrum no matter how you prefer your bourbon.
Our Blanton’s Gold barrel, for instance, is a bit spicier than traditional Blanton’s.
Our French Lick Eagle Rare is on the smokier side, noticeably rounder and less sharp than standard batches.
The French Lick Woodford Reserve features caramel and honeysuckle notes for a sweeter taste than regular Woodford, while our French Lick Maker’s Mark amps up the spiciness and tones down the sweetness.
The Blanton’s breakdown
Blanton’s is known for being smooth and balanced, and the Gold is a much deeper, darker flavor packing a rye-focused punch. Originally created only for international markets, the Gold barrels are highly sought after and very hard to come by.
Specifically, the French Lick barrel reveals heavy, dark charred flavors of oak, honey, toffee, and a slight tobacco note with a snap of spice. It has an incredibly rich mouthfeel and a weighty lengthy finish.
The Eagle essentials
Aged a minimum of 10 years aged in single casks, our French Lick Eagle Rare showcases an amplified version of the standard profile: intense dark cherry, rich caramel, heavy vanilla and distinct toasted oak.
In the nose, you’ll pick up dark brown sugar and toasted marshmallow, dark plum and a faint hint of orange zest. The taste profile hits deep flavors of caramel corn, dark chocolate, and vanilla cola with a mid-palate shifting into cherry cola, sweet baking spices and a touch of milk chocolate. The finish is warm with toffee, cocoa butter and seasoned oak tannins that don’t dry the mouth.
Keep it neat
Our recommendation? Enjoy both of these bourbons neat or on the rocks. Skip the mixers or cocktails; these bourbons are best enjoyed on their own with no frills.

French Lick Resort has been allocated the only bottle of Weller Millenium in the state of Indiana. Sold by the single ounce, it’s available at 1875: The Steakhouse at French Lick Springs Hotel. This exclusive Weller is a blend of four whiskeys (2001, 2003, 2005 and 2006 vintage barrels) distilled at the turn of the millennium at the award-winning Buffalo Trace Distillery by Master Blender Drew Mayville.
