Maybe you’re a no-frills, house wine kind of person. Or a certified oenophile capable with a nose for the finest French and Italian varietals and a palate to detect every note of oak, spice, vanilla and cranberry.
Either way, this is your day to drink the town red. It’s National Red Wine Day, and we’ve got a glass (or a whole bottle) with your name on it. Pop the cork and enjoy all the ways to wine down at French Lick Resort.

Sinclair’s Restaurant
Now’s the time to swirl and sip the 2019 Beni di Batasiolo Barolo at Sinclair’s, the signature restaurant at West Baden Springs Hotel. Aged to perfection from Italy’s famed Piedmont Region, this bold and intense red is new to Sinclair’s expansive selection of exceptional European wines. A sublime pairing with the veal marsala, which was so popular with diners at Table One that it’s now on the menu full time at Sinclair’s.

Another terrific selection: Château Peymouton, a delicious wine from the France’s Saint-Émilion-Grand Cru appellation, back to the roots where wine originated. Pair it with the succulent Barnsley lamb chop, sourced closer to home at Kentucky’s Freedom Run Farm.
With nearly 50 reds to choose from on Sinclair’s worldy wine menu, you can’t go wrong.

Just Arrived at 1875: The Steakhouse
Our cellar just got richer. Enjoy four new varietals on the wine menu at 1875 that pair beautifully with your favorite cut:
Caravan by Darioush: Borrowing from the traditions of Persian winemaking, this Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon bottles the best of both regions.
Cakebread Cellars: Dark fruit flavors ring forward on this merlot, which joins other Cakebread favorites cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay on the 1875 menu.
Saurus: From Argentina’s Patagonia region, this deep and dark Malbec is one of the world’s highest elevation wines grown at nearly 5,000 feet. Strong in the tooth and heavy bodied.
Red Schooner by Caymus: The best of many worlds: made from Mendoza Malbec grapes in South America, then produced and barrel-aged in Napa Valley.

More wines of note: Generations by Huber (grown locally in southern Indiana); Catena Alta (another exquisite Argentinian wine), Clark & Telephone Pinot Noir (the #1 seller at 1875), Château Peymouton (a well-priced French Bordeaux) and Domaine Bousquet Gran Malbec (an organic selection).

And while we’re on the wine subject — are you celebrating something special? Request a table for two in 1875’s Wine Room when calling in your reservation. It’s a popular spot for anniversaries and proposals or just a special night with your favorite person.

Wine & Canvas Has a New Home
Same soothing afternoon, new iconic backdrop. We’re now holding our popular Wine & Canvas event in the atrium at West Baden Springs Hotel. Picture it: a couple hours of sipping, painting and relaxing to your heart’s content. Plan a weekend around the next Wine & Canvas sessions October 11 or November 22.
Wine Under the Dome
Who says the wine experience has to be fussy? Keep it simple. Settle into a seat in the West Baden Springs Hotel atrium, pop the cork and chat the night away. On Friday and Saturday nights, you can order order a glass or bottle until midnight at Ballard’s Bar.

While these warm summer days are hanging around, you’ll also want to order up a Sangria Twist from Ballard’s. The picture of refreshment, in both liquid and spiritual form.

Wine Minus the Buzz
Speaking of Ballard’s Bar, you can find plenty of choices here — including options for non-drinkers in the group.
Ballard’s carries a handful of non-alcoholic wines, including Ariel cabernet sauvignon. There are also chardonnay and sparkling wine options for alcohol-free indulging.

Wine on the Go
Did you know about all the spots at French Lick Resort where you can grab a glass to go? Pick up one at French Lick Springs Hotel’s weekend lobby bar (Fridays and Saturdays starting at 5 p.m.), Paradise Point Bar (parked at the French Lick Springs Hotel outdoor pool), or the Route 56 Drink Truck (next to hole #1 at the new Sand Creek Course at French Lick Resort).

Wine at Your Service
Because some days just call for staying inside. No agenda, just your favorite glass or bottle delivered right to your door. It’s always a phone call away via in-room dining.
Or maybe it’s someone else you have in mind? We have a bottle for that, too. Just contact our concierge and arrange to have their favorite wine, sweet treats or other special surprises waiting in your room when you check in at French Lick Springs Hotel, West Baden Springs Hotel or Valley Tower Hotel.
Venture out for a Taste
Plan a day trip for a wine tasting at one of the local wineries within a short drive.

Head down to Patoka Lake Winery (a gorgeous countryside drive in the fall, by the way) and sample some of their traditional reds, or some unique finds they're known for. The Biker's Black and Blue — a bold blend of blackberry and blueberry wine — is a fan favorite. Patoka's wine slushies also keep guests coming back with flavors from sangria to Dreamsicle to peach bellini.

French Lick Winery is just a hop, skip and a jump from our hotels, featuring a wide selection of wines bottled locally. Take home a bottle of their signature French Lick Red, a sweet Concord grape wine. For something on the drier side, go for the La Donna Rossa red blend.
