Your Family-Friendly Spring Break Itinerary

Spring Break at French Lick Resort

Goodbye, snow boots. See ya next winter, heavy coats.

Sunglasses, swimsuits, springtime gear: you’re up.

We’ve been looking forward to this for months, and spring break season brings family fun for all ages at French Lick Resort. You don’t have to travel far to feel like you’re getting away with so much to enjoy in and around the resort. Check out the perfect itinerary for your family’s 3-day trip.

Day One

4:00 PM »» Check in to your room, maybe sprawl out on the bed for a bit (you’ve earned it after the long trip), then start checking out our activities and things happening during your stay. Explore some of the sights inside the hotel then find the pool for a quick dip before dinner, because you know the kids will be begging.

5:30 PM »» Family dinner night at Power Plant Bar & Grill. If the kids have worked up an appetite after a day on the road — or just have a king-sized appetite in general — Power Plant’s enormous, hand-breaded chicken tenders are just what the doctor ordered.

7:00 PM »» Board the shuttle or trolley over to West Baden Springs Hotel for an evening carriage ride. On nights without carriage rides, sitting under the hotel dome and watching the skylights change color is an equally relaxing alternative.

PRO TIP: Take full advantage of the resort shuttle service during your stay. It's free of charge with stops every 15-20 minutes that will take you to resort hotels, golf courses and stables, as well as attractions in the local community.

8:00 PM »» While you’re at West Baden, order a few desserts to split before calling it a night. Maybe a brownie sundae, warm pie a la mode, or the West Baden Signature Chocolate Dome for all you chocolate lovers.

Day Two

8:00 AM »» Rise n’ shine with breakfast in bed. Order in room service and feast on French toast or a stack of fluffy pancakes.

9:00 AM »» Get the blood pumping early. Try something new at the sporting clays range (ages 13+) or archery range (ages 5+), which are great for both beginners and the advanced.

11:00 AM »» Once you test your aim at the sporting ranges, the stables are right next door. Take a horseback or pony ride and enjoy the serenity of a spring morning.

PRO TIP: Don't forget about everything offered for ages 6-12 at the Activities Center: including Spring Break Tie-Dye T-Shirts, selfie and scavenger hunts, and games and crafts offered daily. They also offer afternoon drop-off services if mom and dad need a little break and want to hit the casino or the local winery/distillery.

12:30 PM »» Take a picnic lunch to East Park on the West Baden Springs Hotel grounds. Be sure to pack your gloves and a ball for a game of catch on the park’s baseball diamond.

1:30 PM »» Choose-your-own-adventure afternoon: a spa day, or a golf tee time. At the Spa at French Lick, ages 12-17 can receive nail treatments when accompanied by an adult, and ages 18+ can enjoy all treatments at both spas. At all resort golf courses, kids 12 and younger play free and ages 13-17 play for half price when golfing with mom or dad.

4:00 PM »» Reconvene for an ice cream cone, a quick game of pickleball, or head to the heated outdoor pool and soak up some springtime sunshine before heading out to dinner.

6:00 PM »» A great spot to chow down? 33 Brick Street is within walking distance of French Lick Springs Hotel, has a diverse menu to please even the pickiest eaters, and you can even try hometown legend Larry Bird’s warmup jacket from the Olympics.

PRO TIP: After dinner, grab some ice cream at French Lick's, and right next door at Bear Hollow Wood Carvers, find a unique hand-carved item to take home.

9:00 PM »» After a day of go-go-go, slip into the hot tub and mellow out for a bit.

Day Three

9:00 AM »» Sleep in for a bit, grab some coffee and a quick bite to eat at French Lick Mercantile Co. or Xanadu Coffee & Creamery … and another fun day is off and running.

10:00 AM »» A morning hike gets the day started on the right foot. Try the Stables Trail (near West Baden Springs Hotel) or Trail 1 (near French Lick Springs Hotel) for an easy 1½-mile route.

11:00 AM »» Get to Pluto’s Alley when it opens for the day, and have your pick of lanes. After bowling, head next door to Pluto’s Pizzeria and split a Hoosier or Full House pie. And be sure to bring some change for the arcade.

1:00 PM »» Day trip! Beyond the resort there’s an indoor water park, mini golf, go-karting, train rides and an escape room — all without leaving the town of French Lick. And within a 30- or 60-minute drive, there’s even more to explore. Check out all the possibilities.

7:00 PM »» After a day of exploring, head back to the resort and catch the shuttle up to Hagen’s Club House Restaurant. The views are phenomenal around sunset. If the weather’s agreeable, ask for a table outdoors.

Day Four

9:00 AM »» Sleep in for a bit, then fuel up with waffles, omelets, fresh pastries and more at The Grand Colonnade’s breakfast buffet.

10:00 AM »» Still time for one final adventure! Rent a surrey cart, pedal together as a family and let the laughs ensue.

11:00 AM »» Check out of your room, hit the road back home, and scroll through your camera roll to relive a most memorable 72 hours.
